Fund the issuing account

Learn how the issuing funding account is used, how funding works, and how to verify balances.

Issuing funding account

The issuing funding account receives merchant funds and provides the source of funds for card creation, card top-ups, and transaction management. Before creating a card or adding balance to a card, merchants usually need to make sure the issuing funding account has enough available balance.

Funds in the issuing funding account can usually be used to:

  • Set an initial card amount or add available balance to a card
  • Support subsequent card spending, refunds, and balance management
  • Allocate budgets and aggregate funds by business scenario

Current card products use USD as the billing and settlement currency. The actual account structure, funding method, and available capabilities depend on the account configuration and Dashboard display.

When funding is required first

Current card products use a prepaid funding model. Card creation, top-ups, and subsequent card spending usually depend on the available balance in the issuing funding account.

Before the following scenarios, confirm that the issuing funding account has enough available balance:

  • Creating a card that requires an initial amount
  • Adding available balance to an existing card
  • Preparing for high-value or high-frequency card spending
  • Supporting multiple cards, teams, or business scenarios at the same time
  • Planning funds in advance by project, channel, or budget cycle

Funding flow

Merchants usually fund the issuing account through the following flow:

  1. Obtain funding instructions or receiving account information from the platform
  2. Submit a funding request or complete the transfer as required
  3. Wait for platform review and fund arrival
  4. Verify the available issuing account balance in the Dashboard

Arrival time may be affected by bank processing, payment route, review process, holidays, and other factors. The actual processing result prevails.

Balance verification

After funding is complete, verify the account balance before creating cards or topping up cards. Pay attention to:

  • Whether the available balance in the issuing funding account has been updated
  • Whether the funding currency matches the card product settlement currency
  • Whether the funded amount covers the planned card creation, top-up, or spending needs
  • If multiple currency accounts exist, whether the funds entered the correct currency account

Fund management recommendations

  • Confirm the available account balance before creating cards or making large expenses
  • Split budgets by business scenario and avoid allocating excessive funds to a single card
  • Regularly reconcile account balances, card balances, and transaction records to keep fund movements traceable
  • If page display, arrival time, or field names differ, follow the actual Dashboard capabilities
